"Scan Mobile” is a unique kinetic LED mobile that maps the topography of the space beneath it. The installation consists of eight nodes mounted on seven arms which collectively inscribe a 5m³ volume.Each node contains as illuminate a 10W Mini ZENIGATA LED

The Process

Concept

Sharp commissioned Jason Bruges to design a kinetic LED light installation to showcase their new 10W Mini ZENIGATA LEDs and IR distance sensors, highlighting both the technology's precision and innovative design.

Drafting

Production drawings detailed the precise construction elements, such as the glulam timber structure, steel work for the hydraulic rams amd other detailed elements.

Testing and Build

Wiring all nodes with processing unit and IR sensors. Running all power through the slip-rings and mobile.Calibrating sensors range and light intensity.

Install at design junction for a week to showcase the mobile.

The art work was Installed and displayed for 3 days in light building 2012 in Frankfurt.
