Collaborating with The Science Museum to create a temporary interior fit-out for a shop and play space, designed with  unexpected materials used showcase museum toys creating focal points. The goal was to craft an engaging environment that aligned with and enhanced the Science Museum’s brand, making science fun and engaging for visitors.

The Project

The Experience

Used unexpected materials to create innovative store designs. The concept combined color and repetition, with 4,000 test tubes of colored water forming textured screens. These highlighted focal points and framed displays of chemistry sets, blending decoration and content to create a vibrant, playful space.

Design

The Concepts were driven from the existing Science Museum store and the museum itself.Blue Lighting reflecting off and modern shaped metallic objects mixed with colourful playful interactive learning tools.

Build

The bulk of the build was done at the BAT workshop where all the custom built shelving units were made to be transported onto site for a fast two night Install.Secondly my role was to draw up a rough Autonomous DMX lighting animations to be later refine on site

Install

Installed shelving units and set up furniture. I also designed ambient DMX lighting using 8 RGB floodlights and 4 RGB stage lights synced to a looped animation. The up-lighting highlighted air-conditioning ducts and rigged trussing, while 4 UV Birdies illuminated test tubes, enhancing the vibrant colors for added effect.
